Oman Air Honoured for Participation at the Shanghai Expo

Khalid Abdul Wahab Al Balushi, Government Relations Manager, received the memento presented by the Chief Guest on behalf of Oman Air.

Nearly 3.6 million visited the Sultanate's pavilion in Shanghai expo, which was held from May 1 to October 31 2010. The expo attracted more than 73 million visitors in six months, with more than 246 participants from different countries, international organisations and companies.

Khalid Abdul Wahab Al Balushi, who has attended the occurrence, said that it was impressive to see the significant success of Oman's pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.

"The friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Sultanate of Oman grew steadily over the past years, and Oman Air's participation at the Expo reaffirmed the value Oman places in this regard. The design of the Omani pavilion themed "Oman – The Evolving Journey" was a synthesis of Oman's rich heritage and culture and its modern development. The Omani National Day, which was celebrated with gaiety in Shanghai, witnessed high-ranking officials from both countries that graced the occasion. During the event, the attendees viewed a film prepared by Oman Air under the title 'Oman as a Tourist Destination'. Needless to add, it was a great feeling to see how the Omani culture was received by the expo visitors."

The visitors at the Sultanate's pavilion had an opportunity to travel into a journey to discover Oman's amazing culture and remarkable geographical diversity, as well as trace its progress. Visitors to the pavilion were exposed to the varied geography of Oman, ranging from the stark desert and the austerity of its mountains, to the rich marine reserves of its warm seas, and the stunning subtropical diversity of its southern Dhofar region.
