Oman Air was honoured at the “Media Innovation Forum 2009” held at the premises of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) recently. The 3-day Forum, which Oman Air sponsored, was organised by the Mass Communication Department in the College of Arts and Social Sciences, in cooperation with the Department of Public Relations and Information of Sultan Qaboos University. The Forum shed light on the latest developments in the field of mass media, besides highlighting the committed efforts exerted by the graduates. It assisted furthermore, in connecting students with specialised establishments focusing on their creative talent within the media field.
Commenting on this, Oman Air’s Corporate Communications and Media stated that sponsoring this event amply testifies Oman Air's perception of the important role played by Media in today's world.
"The development of any nation is based on the principle of pursuing excellence and direction through qualified media cadre. The Forum was aimed at incorporating creativity among the students studying mass communication and to equip themselves with the capacity to serve the nation with responsibility. The presence of Media in all events should not be overlooked due to the significant role it plays in disseminating information, revealing facts in addition to providing constant links regionally and globally," They stated.
The Forum was highly valuable in enhancing the knowledge level of the students and in strengthening the students' relationship with the academic community. Sultan Qaboos University is considered the only official edifice delegated with the prestigious assignment of qualifying well-trained media cadres capable of shouldering massive responsibilities.
"This is yet another reason that prompted Oman Air to sponsor this event. The national carrier will continue with its commitment and contributions towards the community, and with its sincere efforts, to encourage innovative and talented individuals in all fields. We realise the significant tasks being undertaken by the Media in the renaissance of nations and the progression of people besides the supportive role played in developmental projects, field of education, technology and sciences,” Oman Air’s CC&M concluded saying.
It is worth mentioning that Oman Air’s Training Centre, in coordination with various departments of the company, has been on an annual basis, accommodating many university undergraduates for On-the-job training, with the aim of raising their awareness about the market and to help them get acquainted with the latest developments within their related fields. The National Carrier stressed being extremely proud to participate in such training, as part of its national obligation towards the community.
